Fungi Wild Workshop

Do you want to delve into the fascinating world of fungi?

We'll be taking a walk through Larbert Woods to see what weird and wonderful fungi we can find. We will learn the different parts of a mushroom, where to find them, and how you can begin to tell them apart from each other. Learn how to make a spore print and find out how a toadstool gets its spots!

Suitable for children aged 5+ and their grown ups.

Please note that we will be handling various types of fungi, some of which may be poisonous to ingest. It is therefore strongly advised that you do not bring children who may try to have a nibble of what we find.

This is a complete beginner level workshop. You may wish to download an ID app such as PictureMushroom or ShroomID prior to the session if you are interested in identifying particular fungi. Our emphasis will more be on finding different types of funghi and learning about their different parts. 

THIS IS NOT A FORAGING WORKSHOP AND WE WILL NOT BE TASTING ANY FUNGI THAT WE FIND. 

This is a fully outdoor event, please ensure you are dressed for the weather, it can be cooler under the trees and on damper days there is the possibility of midges. There are no toilets on site, the nearest would be at Forth Valley Hospital. Meeting point will be at the outdoor classroom area just off McAllister Avenue. A map will be sent out to those booked on as well as information on parking.
