About the event

We know the benefits of outdoor play. We know that in the digital age children are increasingly inactive and spend more time on screens... but there's just so many things that can stop us from actually getting out! "The weather is terrible today!" "We don't have any equipment" "We're not sure what to do outside" "The children don't behave the same outside"

There are so many barriers that can sometimes get in the way of delivering quality outdoor play. Why not come along to our training session for some practical tips on how to overcome some of these barriers. Why not come along and learn how to put up a simple shelter; discuss how risky play can be safely managed; share ideas with others and learn some new skills that you could do with children outdoors.

If you would like some fresh ideas for overcoming the hurdles that prevent you from enjoying the outdoors then this training is for you. It is aimed at nursery practitioners, teachers, childminders and parents/carers. In other words, anyone working with young children and interested in gathering a bank of ideas for supporting children's learning and play skills outdoors is welcome to attend.

The cost of the training is just £10pp.

It will be delivered by Judith, an experienced Primary Teacher with lots of recent outdoors experience too.

Our training events are held outdoors, so please ensure you are suitably dressed for the weather.

Parking, toilets and a cafe are available at the Battle of Bannockburn Visitor Centre which is open until 5pm. Further information on where to find us on the day will be emailed to you before the event.
