About the event
This event is one of our SEA CHANGERS Workshops that are running throughout Summer 2024. These workshops are thanks to funding from sea-changers. You can find out more about the wonderful work that they do here at: https://www.sea-changers.org.uk/Â
This particular event will be focused on the things found under our feet - seashells, seaweed, barnacles, crabs and maybe even some eels. This is a lovely spot for finding beautiful and fascinating seashells, and turning over stones as the tide goes out to spot the creatures living there.Â
During the workshop there will be opportunity for you to play you part as a good citizen and help to pick up any litter lying along the foreshore than can endanger our coastal wildlife. For this reason, please book spaces for everyone attending, including adults, so that we can arrange to have sufficient litter picking equipment.
You will also be able to engage in seashell and marine themed craft activities as well as other outdoor fun and games.Â
The event is an outdoor event in a relatively exposed location, so please dress appropriately for the weather on the day, whether this be sun protection or wind and rain protection!Â
Please note that parking is limited in and around Blackness, particularly if it is a nice day. We would advise car sharing where possible if you know of others attending the session. Please be mindful of local residents when parking. There is a local bus service which connects Linlithgow and Bo'Ness however the service is infrequent so please check before travelling.Â
The event is aimed at families although anyone is welcome to come and participate in the workshop. A safety talk will be provided at the beginning of the session but please be mindful that you will be close to the River Forth, when deciding whether it is appropriate for you to bring toddlers/young children with you. UTT staff will facilitate activities but parents/carers will be responsible for supervising any children in their care.
If you book and then find that you are no longer able to attend, please let us know so that we can make the spaces to others on the waiting list as soon as possible.Â
If you have any further questions, please email judith@underthetrees.co.uk
